"I'm taking over, I'm taking over, lyrical vibe on the mic centre, " and "Walk like a champion talk like a champion" are trademark lyrics by
the vocally gifted MC VIBE. He's been on the scene for over four and a half years and he's only 19. We had the opportunity to interview the freshest talent on UKG scene.
Where did you get your name from? I used to be called MC Chat, but one day whilst getting my hair cut my barber suggested a new name. VIBIN, i changed it to VIBE and thats been my name ever since.
Where you from? North - West London.
How did you start MCing? The first events I ever did were at Edgware Town FC, nothing really big but about four years ago i got my big break. I got a booking at Gass Club for a night called Sweet n Sexy. It was after this that i got a regular set on Lush FM. I MCeed for Lush @ Hanover Grand, and for Equisite @ Camden Palace. I spent the next six months taking a break from UKG. It was only by accident that i got back into the scene. I was @ Cum Taste the Huney @ Gass and one of my mates arranged a 20 minute try-out with MR Scribbs. He was impressed and he recommended me to Paul K Promotions. Since then I've played out at Gass Club, Hanover Grand, Batchwood Hall, Camden Palace, Colessium, Club Space, Que Club, 321 Degrees (Golds Leicester) and Base.
Wow ! Have you played out in Europe? I had a residency at Escape in Tenerife and the following summer i was working in Crete Malia. Last summer smashed it, I was working for Twice as Nice and Garage Heaven in Ibiza. Both have asked me to work for them again this summer. I've got bookings in Ayia Napa this year. So its all go at the mo.
Where do you get your inspiration? I listen to loads of rap, and i would say that NAZ is my biggest source of Inspiration. His stlye is amazing. Viper and B-live are doing it on the garage scene right about now. I would say that B-live is the DMX of the garage scene.
What are your favourite tunes? Right about now Musical Mob and the beats that So Solid are rolling with are my favourites. Rush and Gabriel are my favourite tunes from way back when.
Do you like big baselines or vocal two-step? Big baselines do it for me, I'm feeling More Fire Crew and Heartless. Superglue is a heavy tune, I like the intro and the beats.
Can you MC to anything other than Garage? I can rap to hip hop and i love MCing to Jungle. I'm versitile.
Whats your favourite rave? Its has to be Twice as Nice @ Es paradise in Ibiza, the crowd were mad. It was such a massive buzz. One Night Stand @ Batchwood is another favourite of mine.
Where can we catch you now? I play on Shine 87.9 FM and Garage 92.7 FM on Wednesdays from 2000-2200. Ive got a residency @ Office and Break for the border every Thursday. Im also gonna be @ One Night Stand and Cum Taste the Huney.
